vMIX Guide (Photo Magic)

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Install and Open vMix:

  • Download vMix from the official website (https://www.vmix.com/) and install it on your computer. (It will require a license)
  • Open vMix.

2. Start with image or video you wish to use as a background:

  • Click “Add Input” in the lower left hand corner.
  • Select Video for motion background or image for a still background.
  • Browse and select the file you wish to use then press “OK”.
  •  

3. Add Vixi Photo Magic Raw Output:

  • Click the “Add Input” button in the lower left hand corner.
  • Select “Web Browser” and input the Photo Magic Raw Output link to the URL section.
  • Make Width 1920 and Height 1080.
  • You should now see the Background Image and Browser as inputs in vMix.

4. Pair the Vixi Photo Magic Output with the custom background.:

  • Click the gear button under the the source of the background.
  • Select "Layers" on the left hand side.
  • Under Number 1 select the Vixi Photo Magic URL.
  • From there you will see options to Move, Crop, and Border the Source.
  • Crop the URL to only show the video space.

  • Check the "Local file" option if the URL points to a local file.
  • Adjust the width and height of the browser source to match your desired feed size.

5. Crop and Reposition the Feed:

  • Select the "VixiPhotoMagicFeed" source in your scene.
  • You can use the crop and resize tools in OBS to adjust the feed's appearance.
  • Drag and drop the feed to position it correctly within the scene.

6. Fine-Tune Your Scene:

  • You can add more sources to your scene, such as text overlays, logos, or additional images.
  • Adjust the opacity, scaling, and positioning of each source to achieve your desired look.

7. Start Outputting:

  • Once your input is configured, you have two options. Fullscreen to use onboard ports or External to use a IO Card.

  • Depending on how you wish to output your program you can configure the Full Screen to another port on your graphics card or an External port utilizing an IO card.

Additional Tips

  • Optimize Performance: Ensure your computer has sufficient processing power and a stable internet connection for smooth streaming.
  • Test Your Setup: Before you go live, you can test your vMix setup to identify any issues or performance bottlenecks.
  • Use Hotkeys: Customize hotkeys for commonly used actions in vMix to streamline your workflow.
  • Consider Using Inputs: Create multiple inputs for different parts of your program, such as an intro scene, main content scene, and outro scene.
  • Explore vMix Features: Experiment with different vMix features, such as color correction, audio filters, and scene transitions, to enhance your program’s production value.

Following these steps and experimenting with vMix features, you can create professional-looking shows using Vixi Live as your video source.
