Fan Flow Examples (Vixi Live)

This article describes the user flow and the various features a user will encounter. Click here to view this page in a web browser.

Step 1:
At any time before or during the game, a “call to action” with a scannable QR code can be shown on the boards. This “call to action” instructs the user to use their cell phone’s camera to scan the QR code in order to stream live video.

Step 2:
The user opens their cell phone’s camera app and uses it to scan the QR code, which directs the phone to open the default web browser. A website loads in the browser. This is the Vixi Live user interface. (Note: The graphic elements displayed here are able to be customized by each team for consistent branding or sponsorship opportunities.)

Step 3:

The user taps the location on their phone screen where text displays “PLEASE TAP HERE TO ENABLE CAMERA”. Depending on the default browser and model of phone, a system dialog box may then appear, which advises the user that this website is requesting permission to access their camera. This dialog box may be accompanied by “Approve” or “Deny” options. The user will need to click “Approve” to start their camera.

Step 4:

The user’s phone’s front-facing “selfie” camera activates, and the user’s live video feed is shown in the center box. This allows the user to frame their shot. The text banner above the live feed changes to “GET READY” to let the user know that their phone has successfully connected to Vixi Live and they are entering the queue of possible video feeds from which the team’s game presentation staff may choose to feature on the boards.

Step 5:

When the user appears on the game presentation staff’s moderator screen (a panel of 24 possible feeds), the text banner above the live camera feed changes to “GET EXCITED”. (Note: User feeds enter the queue in a first-come-first-served manner. The first 24 users to successfully connect to Vixi Live will appear in the moderator screen and will see their text banner change to “GET EXCITED” quickly. All users to queue after the first 24 will remain on “GET READY” until enough users have been chosen or kicked from the moderator panel for their feed to appear visible as one of the 24 selectable feeds. Thousands of users are able to queue in Vixi Live; there is no “queue full” failure mode.)

Step 6:
If the user is selected by the game presentation operator to “go live to the boards”, their text banner will display “YOU’RE LIVE”. Their phone will now stream a live feed to the video boards for as long as they remain selected by the operator as the “live” user. If the user is not selected but remains visible in the moderator screen, their banner will continue to display “GET EXCITED”. If the user is kicked from the moderator screen (shuffled to the end of the queue) or has not yet made it into the 24-feed moderator screen, their banner will continue to display “GET READY”.

Step 7:
Once the game presentation operator has selected a different live feed, the previously selected user will be shuffled to the end of the queue, and their text banner will once again display “GET READY”. Users will remain in queue unless they close the web browser or navigate away from the activation by switching to a different application (such as a text messaging or social media app).

Step 8:
When the game presentation operator is done selecting users to “go live to the boards”, they will lock the activation by toggling a lock button on their moderation screen. This will immediately send all users who entered the queue, regardless of their positions in the queue, to either the “end card” (a clickable graphic) or a website of the team’s choosing. (Note: The graphic elements displayed here are able to be customized by each team for consistent branding or sponsorship opportunities.)
