This guide will show you how to set up and use all 5 Capture Apps (Photo Magic, Mosaic, Message, Groov, Reels).

Topics Covered:

  1. Accessing Input and Output
  2. Setting Up Phone Design and Output Design
  3. Displaying a Call-to-Action
  4. Creating Content with the Apps:
    1. Photo Magic
    2. Mosaic
    3. Message
    4. Groov
    5. Reels
  5. Creating and Running a Capture Playlist

i. Accessing Input and Output

Let's start with setup. At any time, you can view the Video Board Output by opening the popup window in the upper right, and then opening the Output URL. The Output URL is labeled "Default Output" as seen in the example image below. Click "Open URL" in the bottom right.

To view the Phone Design from the fan's perspective or to simply test your setup, in that same popup scroll down and scan the QR Code for Capture.

ii. Setting Up Phone Design and Output Design

One of the first steps when setting up Capture is to configure your graphics for Phone User Input and Video Board Output. To configure these two pages, use the Phone Design and Output Design options in the left nav. You can also view the guide on that topic, click here to open it in a new browser tab.

iii. Displaying a Call-to-Action

Your Call-to-Action graphic is used to invite fans to participate by scanning the QR Code and submitting a selfie. It's the first step when using any of the Capture apps. You can display the CTA as many times as you like - the longer it's displayed, the more fan submissions you should receive.

The CTA graphic contains the Capture QR Code as well as an encouraging message: "Scan to Join the Fun!" or "Scan to Submit a Selfie!" When your graphics department creates a custom CTA, it will need to include the Capture QR Code found in the pop-out menu in the the upper right corner of the screen. Click the white square button to open this menu.

Note that your Capture Input QR Code will never change, so you can create a "permanent" CTA.

Here are the 3 most common scenarios where you'd display a CTA:

  • As a single graphic, displayed on its own. If its the first CTA you'll display for the day, you'll likely need to display it and wait 5-10 minutes before you have enough submissions to really start creating Capture content. You can even display the CTA an hour or more before you intend to spend any time creating content
  • If you've already started creating content with fan submissions and you are creating a Capture Playlist, you can sprinkle the CTA into various spots on the playlist if you desire to receive a new batch of submissions

To display a Call-to-Action on the output:

  1. Click the Yellow button in the upper right corner of the screen to open the Capture Playlist
  2. Click the Gear button to open the Settings
  3. Upload a CTA that you have created to one of the 3 CTA slots
  4. Click the CTA Button to add that CTA to the Capture Playlist
  5. Enable the REPEAT button on the CTA
  6. Press PLAY to run the Capture Playlist and display the CTA

The steps above describe a basic way to show the CTA, but the important takeaway is that you must display the CTA and wait a few minutes for fan submissions to begin coming in. Once you have enough submissions to work with, you can move on to creating content.

Important Note for using a Call-to-Action for Reels:

The default Phone Design Template for Capture will prompt fans to submit Images (as opposed to Videos). All of the Capture apps require Images, except Reels which requires Videos.

If you would like fans to instead submit Videos so you can have a Reels segment in your show, you'll need to create an alternate Phone Design Template that prompts for Videos instead of Images:

  1. In the Left Nav, select Phone Design
  2. In the dropdown, select Reels
  3. In the right column, change "Content Type" from Image to Video
  4. Click SAVE AS and name it "Video"

Now for Reels, you have the following 2 Phone Design Templates:

  • Default Phone Design - Collects Images
  • Video Phone Design - Collects Video

When you are going to display a CTA and you want it to collect Video for a Reels segment, first change the Active Input Template on the Playlist Settings menu. Change it from Default (Images) to the Video template. Once you've selected the Video template, all Capture submissions will be Video.

(Note: You must switch this back to the Default Template when you are done collecting Videos and want to switch back to Image collection.)

iv. Creating Content with the Apps

This section will review how to use each app. After you have displayed the Call-to-Action and received fan submissions, the moderator will then process those submissions with one (or more) of the Capture Apps to create fun and exciting content.

Once the moderator has created content using fan submissions, they will then create a Playlist of content for playback during a planned or unplanned slot in the event schedule.

Sample Moderation Flow

1. Display Call to Action to receive fan submissions

The first step with Capture is to invite fans to submit photos (and data). You do this by displaying a Call-to-Action graphic that contains the Capture QR Code, and an encouraging message.

2. Run fan submissions through the Capture Apps to create content

Once the fan submissions begin to come in, you are ready to start creating your content. This portion of moderation isn't done live, so the moderator can do it at their own pace with whatever time they have available. A standard flow could be to display the Call-to-Action a couple of times to ensure some submissions. Then spend 20-60 minutes creating content and building a Capture Playlist with that content.

3. Build a Capture Playlist

Once you've created enough content, you can choose which content you'd like to use and in what order. You'll build a playlist to keep on stand-by until its time to use it.

Using Capture Apps to Create Content

You can use fan submissions to create all of the following content, and you can mix-and-match which specific results you want to show on the output.

  • AI Render fan images with Photo Magic and/or Groov
  • Display a passively rotating Mosaic of fan images. You choose which images to add to the Mosaic rotation
  • Displaying the fan image along with their submitted text Message
  • Display a fan submitted Reels video, similar to a short social media video clip

Photo Magic - AI Render fan photos and display them on the output with a side-by-side reveal. The original image slides into view, and then the AI Rendered image slides in next to it.

To create a Photo Magic render:

  1. On any fan submission, click the Magic Wand button in the upper left corner of the fan's image
  2. In the first dropdown, select the Render Style you wish to use. (Styles are Realistic, Anime, etc.)
  3. Then use the second dropdown to select a pre-existing AI Prompt that you've created, or create one on the spot by clicking the plus icon and then adding a name and description. Click here to view our prompt guide, or use a prompt description in this format:
  • As a jedi master from Star Wars, wearing brown Jedi robes, holding a blue lightsaber, standing in a marbled jedi temple.

Once you click the Process button, a "Processing" tag appears on the image. It should take around 60 seconds, and once complete you'll be able to view the 4 resulting renders. If you don't like any of the 4 renders, you can re-render and receive 4 brand new results. You view the various renders by clicking the 1-4 buttons at the bottom of each image.

You can also open the Details dropdown at the top of each submission. This allows you to see what Style and Prompt were used for that image.

Lastly, we will briefly review how to add a Photo Magic entry to your Capture Playlist. Simply click the "Add to Capture Playlist" button to add the currently chosen AI Render (#1-#4) to the Capture Playlist.

A sample Photo Magic segment could be:

  1. CTA is displayed 30-60 mins prior to going live
  2. The Moderator uses those 30-60 minutes to render fan photos, and adds the best 20 to the Capture Playlist
  3. When the time arrives, the moderator presses PLAY at the top of the Capture Playlist. This causes the playlist to automatically cycle through all the items on the playlist. In this case, it would spend 10 seconds on each of the 20 Photo Magic reveals, for a total of 300 seconds of auto-play.

Later in this guide, there's a detailed section dedicated to further Creating/Editing your Capture Playlist.

Mosaic - Create a passively playing Mosaic of fan photos. You can also use AI Rendered photos from Photo Magic to populate your Mosaic.

The first step in setting up a Mosaic is to add enough images to fill up your mosaic. The system will continue to cycle through all added images and will never "run out". You just need to add either 10, 20, or 30 images to start with, depending on which Mosaic Layout you are using.

If you use:

  • 3 image layout - add around 10 images to start
  • 10 image layout - add 15-20 images to start (Default)
  • 20 image layout - add around 30 images to start

To add an image, simply click the "Add to Mosaic" button.

After being added to the Mosaic, the button turns into a checkmark. You can remove it from the Mosaic by clicking the button again. You can always add new images to your Mosaic at any time. Its common to start with the minimum number and simply add more as they come in.

Once you've added enough images to Mosaic, you then add Mosaic itself to the Capture Playlist:

  1. Open the Capture Playlist by clicking the yellow button in the upper right corner of the screen
  2. Add a Mosaic segment to the playlist with the "Add Mosaic" button
  3. Enable the Repeat feature for Mosaic
  4. Click Play at the top of the playlist. This will play the Mosaic on repeat, until you manually advance the playlist to something else.

Later in this guide, there's a detailed section dedicated to further Creating/Editing your Capture Playlist.

Message - Display the original fan photo side-by-side with their message. Note that you must enable a Message Field in the Phone Design so that fans have a place to enter their messages as they submit an image.

When you wish to add a fan's Message to the playlist:

  1. Click the Message icon at the bottom of their submission
  2. Then click the "Add to Playlist" button while the Message button is selected

A sample Message segment could be:

  1. CTA is displayed 30-60 mins prior to going live
  2. The Moderator uses those 30-60 minutes to select the best 20 Messages and add them to the Capture Playlist
  3. When the time arrives, the moderator presses PLAY at the top of the Capture Playlist. This causes the playlist to automatically cycle through all 20 of the Messages on the playlist.

Later in this guide, there's a detailed section dedicated to further Creating/Editing your Capture Playlist.

Groov - Use Groov to turn a still selfie into a animated video. Choose a fan photo and animate it into a lip-sync video, complete facial movement and an audio track. There are several default Groovs available, and in the future you'll be able to create and upload your own Custom Groov.

To create a Groov render:

  1. Similar to Photo Magic, click the Magic Wand in the upper left of any image
  2. Select Groov
  3. In the Render Type dropdown, select if you would like to render an image that contains 1 person or 2
  4. In the Audio dropdown, select the Audio (and accompanying animations) you'd like to apply to this fan photo
  5. Click the Process button and wait around 1-2 minutes for the render to complete

You can add Groov to the Capture Playlist by (1) selecting the Groov Render, and (2) then clicking the "Add to Playlist" button.

A sample Groov segment could be:

In this case, it would run through all the Groov animations that you've chosen to add.

Later in this guide, there's a detailed section dedicated to further Creating/Editing your Capture Playlist.

Reels - Allow fans to submit a video clip (with audio) that you can playback on the video board. Reminiscent of a social media video reel.

Important Note for using Reels:

A sample Reels segment could be:

  1. CTA is displayed 30-60 mins prior to going live. Alternatively, the CTA could be sent out prior to the event, and Video clips could be collected for several days. If you wish to use this method, contact TFG Support. The default setup is for media to expire after 12 hours and we would need to make temporary adjustments in the back end.
  2. The Moderator uses those 30-60 minutes (or several days) to select the best fan videos and either adds them to the playlist, or uses the Tag functionality to tag them as "Approved Videos" so they can be easily searched in the future.
  3. When the time arrives, the moderator presses PLAY at the top of the Capture Playlist. This causes the playlist to automatically cycle through all the items on the playlist. In this case, it would all of the chosen fan videos in succession.

Just below, there's a detailed section dedicated to further Creating/Editing your Capture Playlist.

v. Creating a Capture Playlist

The steps around creating a Capture Playlist are:

  1. Display the Call-to-Action (using the correct Phone Design Input Template) to bring in fan photos
  2. Use the Capture Apps to create content
  3. Add all desired content to the Capture Playlist
  4. Re-arrange content to preference
  5. Capture Playlist is now ready to playback at a planned or unplanned segment in the event by simply clicking the Play button at the top

Functions of the Capture Playlist:

Upper Section

  1. Stop button - This stops the playlist. The output will be blank so this should not be used when live
  2. Play button - This begins playback of the Capture Playlist, or resumes play after a Pause
  3. Pause button - This pauses the Capture Playlist, and can be used when cutting away from Output
  4. Next button - This advances to the next slide on the Capture Playlist
  5. Up Next - This is the next slide that will display after the current slide
  6. On Air - This is the slide that's currently displayed on the Output

Middle Section

  1. Call-to-Action Quick Access - These allow you to add a CTA to the Capture Playlist as the Up Next slide
  2. Playlist Settings - This opens the menu where you can upload a CTA, as well as select the Phone Design Template to be used when fans scan your Capture QR Code
  3. Expand/Collapse All - This expands or collapses all Capture Playlist items
  4. Total Duration - Displays the total duration of your entire Capture Playlist
  5. Add Mosaic - This adds a Mosaic Segment to the Capture Playlist. This adds the Mosaic functionality but you must still add individual images to the Mosaic
  6. Add Groov List - This adds a Groov List to the Capture Playlist. This single Groov entry will play all Groovs that have been added to the Groov List.
  7. Repeat List - This will cause your Capture Playlist to repeat from the top if it ever plays the final slide
  8. Clear Capture Playlist - This clears all items from the Capture Playlist. The actual items themselves are unaffected. This simply clears the entries on the Capture Playlist

Details on Each Entry

  1. Reorder - Click and drag to reorder any entries
  2. Expand Button - Expand this entry to see it's thumbnail
  3. Description & Timer - Lets you see what kind of item this is, and how long it will be displayed for
  4. Repeat - Causes the selected slide to repeat until you disable it
  5. Skip/Hide - Hides the slide and causes it to be skipped instead of played
  6. Remove from Playlist - Removes the item from the Capture Playlist but the original image is unaffected
